Instructions for Completing this Pre-work

Please print out and follow the instructions below to complete the pre-work before coming to your scheduled certification class. You need only to complete the pre-work for the products you will represent (PPO and/or PFFS).

You must pass the Humana Pre-work Test before you will be allowed to attend class. You will not be allowed to attend class if you do not have a passing score of 70% on the pre-work test. Instructions for completing that test are included here.

 

Before You Begin

Pre-Step. This CDROM contains files in Adobe Acrobat Reader. All the documents can be printed for easier reading. Determine whether your commputer has Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. If you need to install it, a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader installer is included in this CDROM. To install it, click on this link ===> Adobe Reader Installer. When prompted to either Run or Save, click Run.

 

To Prepare for the Humana Pre-work Test

Content for the prework test will be drawn from the following sources. Be sure to review them throughly before attempting the online test. You can access the materials by clicking on the links in the instructions below.

Step 1. Launch, print and review the document Medicare and You 2006 from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Content from this document will be on the Pre-work test. This document is included on this CDROM in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.

Step 2. Launch, print and study the appropriate documents for the products on which you will be tested:

Questions about these documents will be included on the Pre-work test. Printing and studying these documents will help you pass the pre-work test. These documents are included on this CDROM in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.

Step 3. If you do not already have a background in Medicare, you may wish to complete the National Medicare Training course provided free on the CMS website. You can access that course by going to the following link:

The course consists of six modules. You may take whichever modules you need. It should take about two hours to complete the entire course.

Step 4. You may also wish to review the documents Your Medicare Benefits and Your Guide to PFFS Plans as useful background before attending the training session.

 

The Humana Pre-work Test

You must take and pass the Humana Pre-work Test before you will be allowed to attend class.

The test consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, drawn randomly from a pool of questions.

 

To Take the Humana Pre-work Test

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING STEPS 1, 2 & 3 CAREFULLY!

1. Go to the website http://humanapretest.insurancestudy.com.  ( Figure 1. )
  • If you are already registered in InsuranceStudy, log in.
  • If you are not, you must register as a new user.
  •    To register as a new user, enter your email address and click Member login.  ( Figure 2. )
  •    You will be presented with the opportunity to become a member.  ( Figure 3. )
  •    Complete the form and click the Register button.  ( Figure 3. )

    2. When you have registered successfully click on link to access the pre-work test.

  • There is no online course material on this website.
  • You can only take the test on this website.

    • 3. Click on the Humana Pre-work Assessment Test. To begin taking the test, click on the Start Test button.

    The test will time out after 30 minutes.
    You only have two (2) attempts to pass this test.

    Clicking on the Start Test button to launch the test will count as an attempt.

  • Do not attempt to view or take the test until you are ready to complete the test.
  • If you do not pass the test the first time, please review your study materials again before making a second attempt.

    4. When you pass the test, an email with your passing score will be sent to the email address you included with your registration.

    5. Please print that email notification and bring it with you as proof of passing the test. This will be your admission ticket into the training session.
