Mutual of Omaha Announces Modernized Med Supp Rates for 2010
Rates will decrease in most states, while commissions stay the same!


Mutual of Omaha was the first carrier to release rates for its highly anticipated 2010 Medicare Supplement products.

Which means that right now Mutual is the only Medicare Supplement product you can sell to clients who are turning 65 after June 1, 2010.

When the 800-lb Gorilla moves, it's best to either move with it or get out of the way. It will be interesting to see what the rest of the industry does now that Mutual has thrown its weight around.

The NAIC's Medigap Modernization changes will drop some existing plans and coverages, while adding others.

Two new Medigap Plans M & N will be available in 2010
Medigap Plans E, H, I and J will no longer be available for new sales
"At-Home Recovery" and "Preventive Care" benefits will be dropped from all plans
New Hospice Benefit will be added to all plans
Insurance carriers will be allowed to offer plans that include "New" or Innovative Benefits, such as eyewear or hearing aid benefits.

So far Mutual of Omaha is the only carrier to release rate information for these new plans.

Health Care Reform Update
Don’t look now but it seems we're on the brink of reform becoming a reality.

The House has already passed its version of the bill by a narrow 220-215 margin, and the Senate voted 60-39 to bring their 2,000-page, $849-billion bill to the floor for debate. It could be a few weeks before the Senate actually votes on a final bill. In the meantime, check out how the two bills compare on price, taxation, and new regulations.

How To Open Secure Email From SMS
E-mails from SMS that contain sensitive information—such as social security numbers, account numbers or member IDs—will be encrypted. When you receive a secure email from SMS, follow these instructions:

1. Open the email and locate the link to the SMS Portal—"You have a Senior Market Sales Secure Email . . ."
2. If you are a first-time user, you will need to create an account—Simply enter your email, a password and a password reminder
3. A notification email will be sent to you. Activate your secure account using the link contained in the email.
4. The link will take you back to the portal site where you need to enter your email address and the password you just created. Your secure email box will open immediately.
