7 ways to sell Medicare Insurance in the 21st century by Samuel Halpern, Director of Internet Marketing Senior Market Sales, Inc
Since the beginning of the insurance industry, insurance agents have been selling insurance face to face with their clients, "at the kitchen table."
Many of the most successful producers in the senior market still sell this way 100% of the time and may never change their methods. Why fix it if it ain't broke, right? Well, many agents today are finding it more and more challenging to find prospects willing to open their doors, literally. Today, seniors are often less comfortable inviting strangers into their homes than used to be the case. Also, most agents today cannot survive as the neighborhood insurance agent. Agents need to expand their territory in order to find enough prospects to make ends meet. For better or worse, society is now wired up to the hilt. Between cable TV, satellite, regular phone service, DSL, wifi, and web tv, most seniors have access to the Internet, most have e-mail, and virtually all seniors have phone service . . .

Medicare Solutions, Did you know? — H.R. 6331 Made Easy In July, 2008, Congress overrode President Bush's veto of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008. The law avoids a 10.6 percent provider pay cut. The source of funds needed to restore physician fees will come from a reduction in Medicare Advantage payments to health plans. With the passage of the legislation, carriers are awaiting guidance from CMS who will ultimately issue the regulations that constitute compliance. Many of the items in the legislation were included in CMS proposed regulations that were published in June, 2008. Is it the end of Medicare Advantage? Certainly not, but significant changes will follow.

New Medicare Supplement plan choices are coming By this time, most have heard about H.R. 6331. This bill was passed by both house and senate, vetoed and overturned. The headlines made us think that it was all about avoiding or delaying a cut in payment of benefits to doctors. Others made it about Medicare Advantage specifically Private Fee for Service plans and of course the funding of these plans. Certainly these were in the legislation and will have dramatic effects on these plans in a couple of years.
