What is the best Part D drug plan on the market? While many carriers lay claim to having the best formulary, lowest co-pays, some level of coverage in the donut hole (also referred to as the coverage gap), in the end, the best solution covers your client’s drugs. If a drug is not covered by the plan, it can dramatically increase the out-of-pocket costs for your client.
But what options do you have if no Part D plan covers your client’s drug because the drug is not approved by CMS? There are certain classifications of drugs that CMS hasn’t approved meaning no Part D coverage is available. These include:

Let’s take Benzodiazepines as an example. Valium, Stesolid, Diazemuls, Seduxen, Bosaurin, Diapam, Antenex, Ducene, Apozepam and Pax are all brand name drugs for Diazepam which is a Benzodiazepine. The cost for these drugs can be quite expensive. Retail cost for Valium is roughly $250 per month.
