Reminder: What MA-PD Members Can and Can't Do During the MA-PD Disenrollment Period

The Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period runs from Jan. 1 to Feb. 14 Humana has put together some helpful reminders for agents on what MA-PD members can and cannot do during this period.

 

What CAN Occur During the MA Disenrollment Period

          If enrolled in...
         Then...
MA Plan (Non PFFS Option)
Members can submit a written request for disenrollment and return to Original Medicare.
MA Plan (Non PFFS Option)
Members can enroll into a stand-alone PDP plan. (This will automatically disenroll the member from their MA plan and enroll them in Original Medicare).
MA Plan (PFFS Option)
Members can submit a written request for disenrollment and return to Original Medicare
MA Plan (PFFS Option)
Members can submit a written request for disenrollment and enroll into a stand-alone PDP plan. (If the member does not submit a written request the MA plan WILL NOT automatically term and the application for the PDP will be denied by Medicare unless there is a valid SEP).
MA-PD Plan (All Types)
Members can submit a written request for disenrollment and return to Original Medicare. (Members are not required to enroll into a stand-alone PDP plan).
MA-PD Plan (All Types)
Members can enroll into a stand-alone PDP plan. (This will automatically disenroll the member from their MA-PD plan and enroll them in Original Medicare).

Stand-Alone PDP Plan Options
The Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period is restricted to members who want to disenroll from a Medicare Advantage (MA) plan and enroll into Original Medicare. There is not an election available for members who are already enrolled into Original Medicare for medical coverage.
